Aerospace Engineers by Day, Drug Dealers by Night: Marijuana Selfie & Prison Bars

It seems to be a growing fad of care-free drug dealers, or drug users, posting their illicit activities publicly onto their social media accounts. The practice has become so common police officers comb through social media frequently to bust offenders quickly, and without much police work- which is exactly what happened to Richard Edmunds and Joshua Langmead. The dynamic duo shared a living space in South Molton, in the UK and were actively engaged in maintaining a large scale indoor greenhouse for marijuana in two separate bedrooms. What gave it all away? Weed selfie!

Langmead manned the camera which ultimately got him and his co-conspirator jailed for eight and 20 months respectively. Both men worked for an aerospace firm by day and sold marijuana at night and on their off time. Police officers found evidence of illicit sales on six different cell phones including text messages of deals, and pictures of marijuana plants in various stages of growth, according to the Bath Chronicle.

In addition to the slew of pot charges, including manufacturing, possession, and distributing a controlled substance, Edmunds admitted to having a stash of ecstasy for his own personal use. The two assert their marijuana growery was the product of supporting their own marijuana habit. Both social media sensations have been slapped with mandatory unpaid community service hours upwards of 150 hours each.

Police officers were surprised both Edmunds and Langmead received sparkling accolades from their employer.

Could there be more to the story we don’t know?
