Rob Kardashian Won’t Be There for Caitlyn Jenner’s ESPY Award Because of Drug Rehab

Rob Kardashian Won’t Be There for Caitlyn Jenner’s ESPY Award Because of Drug Rehab

You might have heard Rob Kardashian has checked into a florida drug rehabilitation treatment program recently- and if that didn’t cause enough of a stir, this certainly will. (Can’t a Kardashian get a break already?) Rob may miss his step-mom, Caitlyn Jenner’s, ESPY award, according to the International Business Times. Although we’re not entirely certain of Rob’s extent of rehab treatment, reports claim he is in rehab for depression and weight loss. But don’t take his possible disappearance at the upcoming ESPY awards as his way of bashing Caitlyn Jenner. Because of his own insecurities about his appearance (and who the heck can compete with Kim Kardashian?), Rob may stay out of the reach of the public’s eye.

The International Business times quotes a source close to the Kardashian family, “Rob fully supports Caitlyn, but remains in a dark place and doesn’t want want to go out in public because he isn’t comfortable with his physical appearance,” Rob’s self conscience highlights an important point not often addressed in our mainstream focals: men have body image issues too. It’s not just the glamourous female supermodels that keep girls and women alike up in the wee hours of the morning making late night resolutions to forgo everything they enjoy eating- and then falling short in the morning to take comfort in a bagel and cream cheese from the stress of it all- men feel the pressure to be model thin, muscular, and desired too.

If we take a closer look at conditions precipitated by poor body image, bulimia and anorexia are probably the most common eating disorders that come to mind, but what about substance abuse? There are plenty of reports of teens and young adults abusing laxatives or diet pills (stimulants) to achieve the “perfect body.” And how many dollars have you spent on the newest weight loss fads? Pills? Eating regimen plans? How many calories have you counted to make yourself look like the reality TV stars strutting their stuff on Keeping Up with the Kardashians? Well stop it.

If we can learn anything from Rob Kardashian it’s that taking care of your mental and emotional well being is more important than your outward appearance. When you’re able to live with yourself in harmony the aesthetics fall into place. Overeating and substance abuse actually go hand-in-hand. When you resolve the underlying problems causing both compulsive habits, you won’t feel the need to do either.
We hope Rob is able to achieve harmony and accept himself for the beautiful person he is, despite what he may think about his outward appearance.
