Flakka: The Newly Popular Synthetic Drug Wreaking Havoc in South Florida Is Now Sold in The UK

People are now labeling flakka as the drug that “turns people into zombies” as a result of the bizarre stories of flakka users in South Florida. This drug has caused an epidemic similar to the crack cocaine epidemic which swept South Florida in the early 1980’s. Alpha-PVP, better known as flakka, has been the cause of multiple deaths in Florida and a series of bizarre incidents. The sale of the new drug is now spreading, most recently to the UK, according to Yahoo News.

Currently, some websites are offering flakka for sale in the UK for as low as 19 British pounds per gram, which equates to about 30 dollars in US currency. According to the websites which are selling flakka in the UK, they’re advertising it’s effects as inducing euphoria, stimulation, and increased concentration.

Some may not agree that the effects of flakka should be positively advertised, Florida Sun-Sentinel columnist Daniel Vasquez said in a recent report, “It is a dangerous designer drug that turns people into zombies, and the psychological effects could be permanent.” He also added that it’s sweeping across South Florida in the same fashion as the crack cocaine wave that had taken place in South Florida decades ago.

The use of this drug in users in South Florida has induced bizarre effects, for instance an incident recently occurred where a South Florida man high on flakka attempted to have sex with a tree while screaming out loudly that he was God. The drug also caused the man to act violently and towards police officers, as he tried to stab an officer with the officer’s own badge.

Authorities are currently working to help put an end to the flakka epidemic which is beginning to take over South Florida. Now that the drug is being sold in more places such as the UK; it will be interesting to see what bizarre stories will be released in other cities, states, and countries.
