It’s well known many celebrities and socialites turn to addictive substances to cope with the pressures surrounding fame: deadlines, endless snooping from excitable journalists and photographers, performance pressure, being gorgeous all the time (and yes, that affects guys too), angry directors, demanding family members, and everything in between. Although some of the most revered actors, directors, extraordinary minds, and generic famous people- who don’t quite do anything aside from rank in millions from their designer clothing lines- struggle with addiction to drugs and alcohol for a time, they become fonts of inspiration for those who look to them for guidance when they persevere beyond the throes of addiction.
With the help from Reveal UK we’ve compiled a list of five celebs you forgot struggled with addiction, but made a miraculous comeback!
1. Khloe Kardashian

Remember when we mentioned generic famous people? Enter the Kardashian clan, who boast an impressive social media footprint whenever they do something “otherworldly” (which is consistently things like having a party, naming a bunny Bruce, and crying a lot). Khloe K, the middle sister of the voluptuous Kim Kardashian, struggled with a bout of an alcohol use disorder.
According to Reveal, Khloe was arrested for a suspected DUI in LA, and was tasked to complete community service and attend an alcohol awareness class.
She didn’t.
In response, Khloe was slated to serve 30 days in prison, but was released within the first few hours of her would-be-imprisonment because of overpopulation.
Unfortunately Khloe’s life would be touched by addiction again when her husband, Lamar Odom, struggled with an acute addiction to crack cocaine.
2. Matthew Perry

Ah, the loveable Chandler Bing from Friends broke the hearts of fans nationwide during his struggle with an addiction to vicodin after sustaining a jetskiing injury, according to Reveal. For a time he oscillated between rehab and relapse and made us watch from the big screen as his physical appearance was riddled with his burdened state.
Thankfully, Matthew Perry has made a full recovery and has publically announced his approval of drug courts, which seek to help nonviolent drug offenders get help, as opposed to being sentenced to jail time, where their conditions often worsen.
3. Fergie
Say it isn’t so! The glorious woman behind the famed “these hips don’t lie” battled an addiction to crystal meth in the early 2000s. Fergie regaled. “[Meth] was the hardest boyfriend I ever had to break up with,” as quoted by Reveal.
4. Snooki
You know her from Jersey Shore and have seen her questionable antics first hand. Although Jersey Shore was a source of entertainment for thousands, the reality show was really a documentation of several troubled souls struggling to control their raging alcohol use disorders (and oftentimes their hair and zippers).
Thankfully Snooki is no longer the party fiend we remember, and has settled down with her beau Jionni LaValle and their two children.
5. Paris Hilton

Another one famous for being famous and incessantly whining, Paris Hilton’s struggle with alcohol use mirrors Khloe Kardashian’s: arrested for DUI and was sentenced to 45 days in jail, as punishment for drinking and driving a second time. But alas, Paris only served 23 days in lock up.
Unfortunately the party doesn’t stop there. According to Reveal, Paris was arrested in Vegas under suspicion of cocaine possession. But it would appear that life is behind her now, as Paris has poisoned herself as a successful business woman with a love for furry creatures.
